Summer soccer camps for MLSNext and ECNL players - metro DC, NYC, or Boston areas

My son plays for MLS Next. When our coach cancels practices last min, we would join the False 8 training. It is something to do but no wow factor.

For the summer camps, they are attempting to screen out beginners I think. The interest form asks for club and placement, and number of years playing.

We did technical skills program with Moravek. He and other three councils could not care less about the kids on the field. I think they spent more time looking at their phones than kids. Hope things improved…

DC United sucks so badly — zero involvement with developing young soccer players in the DMV. They can’t even run a competitive soccer camp during the summer offseason. Pathetic.

It’s so shortsighted too, from even the business perspective of developing a loyal fan base of diehard soccer fans - my boys have zero interest or loyalty to DCU despite growing up in the DMV. They have been to camps when Philly Union and NY Red Bulls but have no interest in going to support DC United.

You again

When did DCU pass on your boys?
Will you ever get over it?

For the girls side, McLean has a good ECNL camp that is in the evenings and has a large roster of college coaches. Last summer it was well attended and well run

The Moravek European Coaches camp was excellent. The best I have seen in the area and the coaches were top notch. Players were good quality overall to. See the weekly sessions they offer have added another division that will be for only the MLS next players and ECNL.

False 8 is marketed towards the younger ballers. No one playing on MLS Next level should be going there.

Anyone have experience or input on Champions Premier?

They have on going sessions and target players in MLS Next and ECNL. What's the quality of participation, training program, cost?

Yes, excellent. Right now the sweet spot for age and skill level is probably 2011 ECNL/MLS Next. The founder, Stanley Alves, has a group ranging from 2009 to 2012. He needs to assess the kid to see if he is a fit with the group. Not everyone is accepted. Several ECNL-RL / EDP kids are in the group, but they are extremely dedicated and have risen their skills to top level team. You kid is not going to get coached or corrected every time they make a mistake, but if he wants to maintain a passion for soccer outside of club and get better in the process - highly recommend.

Nextstar has allowed little kids, I'm talking U8/U9, to join their practices and camps with high school players and it screws it up for everyone. It's shocking the coaches allow this and it's arrogant for the parents of the younger kids to think their child can handle it. They can't. They miss basic passes and everyone has to waste their time chasing the ball.

Yes, if anyone from NextStar is reading this.... don't dilute the training pool by adding in significantly younger players.... there is just no way things can go well. I hope this isn't a sign that next start will sacrifice quality in favor of quantity. I've seen it before.... St James has a striker program -its super great with about 8 players.... its super shitty with about 30 players. It goes from Elite training to waste of time really fast.

Agreed - the age levels with Next Star are too wide. Let U13 and up play with high schoolers, maybe U12 and U11 but not younger.
