DP
That’s what DW and I are going to do. Not in November though.

My mail in ballot only has one party to choice from

The ballot you have is the one you chose.

If requesting a ballot for a primary election, you must indicate a political party preference. Virginia is an open primary state meaning any voter can vote in either primary. Since voters cannot register by party, they must indicate the primary they would like to vote in for a ballot to be sent.

But why require a choice at all? It’s not required for non mail in ballots.

Maybe pay attention a little better. If you say what school you’re from, I’m guessing we could find multiple newsletters announcing this. It was announced last fall when the Board of Elections asked FCPS to close the schools on March 5.

And here it is in DCUM in October:

Op doesn’t even realize Tuesday is a voting day. Safe to say she’s generally clueless

You’d have to ask the elections board. The part in italics came from one of their pages.

We did (and I’m a die-hard Democrat). We want to send a message that we don’t want Trump. It would kill his ego is he lost Virginia to Nikki.

A die-hard Democrat not waiting Trump is sure to break his heart.

Is it because you think Trump will lose to Biden because the current state of the country is such a mess?

Win the primary? Probably. For all the good it will do him.

Do you guys not get how primaries work? You’re only voting for who you want to be that party’s candidate in a primary. Since Biden is de facto the Dem candidate, a lot of Democrats choose to not waste their vote further validating that and instead focus on voting for the least-harmful or most easily-beatable Republican candidate to try to block off the worst ones from the ballot. Most of us did this in 2016 too, I believe I voted for John Kasich that year.

Nothing will kill his ego.

Why would it be a waste of a vote to affirm, with overwhelming support, the guy who saved this country from a second Trump term?
THAT would send a message, especially in light of efforts in other states to drag him down.
I swear people are so ungrateful.

But why would you want a stronger candidate in the general election? Haley does much better against Biden than Trump in the polling. If you want Biden to win you should be voting for Trump in the primary.
