NP These two places both are favorites of the upper crust.

And the intelligence community.

My thoughts too

This is incorrect. SFS and Yale have a lot of overlap.

Might as well apply to all or most of the Ivies if you have serious national awards.

Maybe true but not Georgetown as a whole.

Sorry your son’s admissions journey was disappointing.

I don't think they've even "started" the journey?

boy, high stats, national awards, humanities major.

I guess we'd have a hard time turning down Harvard, etc. But I'd like to skip over the rest of the T20 schools. I'm not sure Georgetown is worth it, but I guess for the SFS. But places like Tufts, BC at 90k makes no sense to me.

Can someone think of some schools with merit aid that might work. In NYS. Binghamton doesn't make his eyes light up, which I get. Doesn't want a SLAC

MANY -if not most- of the schools that would fit your bill will be VERY very expensive. And the ones that arent, but may give merit and are less known, probably would not be palatable to kids who are Harvard, Yale, Gtown or bust. And that's not a criticism. But reality.

And it's the reality we are facing too (in terms of costs v. ranking/name tradeoff).

At DC's boarding school many of the same kids are applying to both Georgetown (and not just SFS) and Yale.

She said SFS is the post.

Should we also say Yale has nothing in common with UVA since that was also not in the post?

So many people here feel like they’re REQUIRED to post replies when they’re not willing to read 6 or 7 sentences in the post.

So many non-nothing know-it-alls on this page.

I love the how DARE you think you have a chance when my perfect Eagle Scout son did not. OMG …

Why would you think there’s a “or bust” here. The kid didn’t want Bing. That’s a far cry from being “or bust”

I’d say, Notre Dame and Vandy. BU. Cornell Brooks school. Maybe Denison for ppe?
