Did English Cocker Spaniels fall out of fashion?

They were so fashionable late 80s/early 90s

All the small Spaniels look alike. Maybe I’m confusing cocker with King Charles.

They look very different as the King Charles is multi colored and the cockers are generally one color.

thanks tik tok!

you're 1. comparing a very young puppy on the left to an adult on the right and 2. are botching the coat color thing, too. KC can be single color and cockers can be parti-color. then again, i stay off tik tok because i'm not 19

I had a cocker spaniel growing up. Absolutely untrainable and yes, he peed in the house. I loved him immensely though and he was an absolute sweetheart.

I’m a Cavalier KC owner. There are four color variations and one is ruby, pretty much identical to the color of the Cocker in this picture.

We had cocker spaniels growing up. They were super sweet, but super dumb and difficult to house train. The Cavaliers are smarter.

I grew up with a cocker spaniel. He was super cute but kind of stupid. They also aren't great with small children. I was elementary age when we got him and that was fine, but he would growl and snap at children younger than me if he didn't know them.

I don't think so. I can't tell if the ears are long but cockers usually have broader snouts and curlier hair.

I don't think that's a puppy. Cavalier King Charles spaniels are bread to look like puppies for their whole lives. That's a full grown darling in the picture.

I have a cavalier/poodle mix that is 14 and still looks like a puppy. People ask me "how old is he?" thinking I'm going to give an age in months.

Aren’t they know to get chronic ear infections and skin infections?

I think Tucker's dog is a boykin spaniel. Goes along with his created persona.

We had a Cocker Spaniel Cavalier mix. For the most part he was a great dog, but he did have occasional issues with Cocker rage and ended developing a heart murmur. We had to put him down at 10 due to congestive heart failure and it was horrible. With how common heart problem are with spaniels, I don't think we would get another.

Yes, ear. Haven’t had experience with skin infections. Their ears are heavy and so they stay kind of damp-ish. I have my cockers ears fur/hair shortened and the insides shaved when they’re groomed every 6 weeks to keep some air moving.

This is a thing. Unfortunately Cocker Spaniels pretty much always make the list of "Top Ten Dog Breeds Responsible for Dog Bites." A well-trained CS isn't necessarily a dangerous dog, but I wouldn't want one that hasn't been trained and well socialized around children. (Yeah, yeah, of course all dogs are supposed to be trained and socialized, but I bet the percentage of families getting puppies that intend to train their dogs and never do is very, very high -- and if your family falls into this camp and wants a spaniel, I'd go with a CKC instead of a CS to avoid the chance of biting.)

Having witnessed cocker rage, I would never risk it, even though they can be cute-looking.

PP here. Pic on left is a 10-12 week puppy. Tri color. I have an English toy spaniel, which are ridiculous
