| I feel like growing up, they were a pretty popular breed. Now I barely see them. |
Possibly this. https://spanieladvisor.com/cocker-rage |

I don't know much about them but I have an idea in my head that they can be aggressive and unpredictable, and aren't good family dogs. Whether or not that is accurate, maybe that's what the general public thinks too so they've fallen out of fashion.
There are certain trends in dogs, though, I think and I've never thought about what causes them. Like, French bulldogs and corgis have obviously soared in popularity since I was a kid, and I don't see nearly as many Yorkies, Beagles or Rottweilers as I used to. |
| All the cockers I know peed constantly in the house. |
| Dalmatians and Cockers were big because of the Disney movies, but those specific movies aren't popular anymore. |
| It was the Disney movie. And it was a problem -- they are not easy pets. |
| Yes. The are difficult and also pee easily when excited. |
| King Charles spaniels have taken over if you really want a spaniel. They do seem to be really good dogs too. I know lots of family members who have them. |
They have a lot of health problems due to inbreeding. No thanks! Although they are super cute https://fluentwoof.com/king-charles-spaniel-health-issues/ |
All the small Spaniels look alike. Maybe I’m confusing cocker with King Charles. |
| Cocapoos are popular now instead. A better temprament. |
Yes but they have heart issues and not a long life span. |
They look very different as the King Charles is multi colored and the cockers are generally one color.

Is this a cocker spaniel?

My parents have a cockapoo and had a cocker. He was the most well trained dog (no credit, came that way from the rescue) and the one time he pee’d inside the house was the tip off of what he eventually diagnosed with cancer, but he never had accidents in the house/when excited. |
