Dress as a teacher day

I'm a teacher and think that sign is hilarious.

The school I was at last year was dress like a teacher (students) /dress like a middle schooler (teachers). It was hilarious and we'll-take by all.

I'm half hoping my current school will do it so I can find some white crocs, long white socks, leggings and a gray hoodie.

Please find a cardigan with pencils on it

Another teacher here who thinks it’s hilarious.

Dressing like me would be pretty boring. All of us wear regular clothes but there are some who wear particular shoes. I do wear a lot of cardigans because yes, I’m always cold.

This is kind of like when they had to dress like they were 100 in K or preschool for the 100 days of school. Not everyone who was 100 dressed that way but the kids had fun dressing in a different style. I don’t care if some kids mimic me and my out of style clothes.

Teacher here who hates this day. Last year students picked one particular teacher to mock, and I can’t stand it.

It can turn quite mean spirited in high school.

My 9 year old was just describing a teacher I didn't know the other day and he said she always wears "one of those robes all teachers wear". I assume he meant the long sweater cardigans. I was laughing so hard.

I'm a teacher who dresses nothing like what many parents consider "teacher wear." From Monday through Thursday, I wear designer dresses, skirts, or pants, as well as very nice, almost exclusively high-heeled, shoes. On Fridays, almost everyone wears school spirit wear with jeans, so I do that as well.

I don't need to get on the floor with students, supervise recess, or do anything messy in my job, so I have the opportunity to wear very nice clothing. No polos, khakis, tees, or other such clothing.

Oh come on. That’s funny.

We have this at our school and it’s a lot of fun. Teachers (you know, those adult humans) usually have their own style. Students can pick up on it and come dressed as a teacher on the building. Teachers are free to wear what they want at our school and we are an artsy school so it’s a lot of fun.

I would have my daughter dress up as Ms. Frizzle.

HS teacher here. LOVE the snow day response! We have had this for spirit day once in a while and the teachers sometimes take the opportunity to "dress as a student". One male teacher shaved his beard, wore a hoodie and jeans, earbuds, backpack, etc. Then he sat in a student desk until the bell rang and no one in the class figured it out until he stood up to get the class started. Commitment right there! Hilarious!

This might be a good one for our Spring sprit week or next year for Homecoming!

I posted above. I’m a little surprised so many people are okay with this.

If we asked students to dress like each other, I assume most of us would realize the potential for mocking and bullying. But since it’s teachers, this is acceptable?

I’ve seen high schoolers use this day to ridicule teachers they don’t like. I’ve seen teachers go home rather upset because teenagers picked on things sensitive to those teachers.

But I suppose the teachers should just grow a thicker skin?

My kid’s school did this and it was all in good fun. They know which teachers are runners, or coffee drinkers, or have a sweet tooth, and copy that.

One of the teachers wore Air Forces, a crop top (over a longer shirt) and pretended to do selfies and TikToks. The kids thought it was hilarious.

That wouldn't happen at all schools. If students can't handle it then the schools shouldn't have it. But I'm sure in many instances it's fine.
