Anxiety meds

Cymbalta is weight neutral and indicated for anxiety.

Have you tried acupuncture for anxiety symptoms? Years ago, it really helped me and your post reminded me to try it again!

You might ask your doctor to try Buspar or Cymbalta. I don’t think either of those are linked to weight gain for most people.

Exxua (gepirone)- ganechanger:

"..Unlike most other antidepressants, Exxua doesn’t carry a warning of weight gain or sexual dysfunction, suggesting that it may increase compliance for patients who experience these common adverse effects from other treatment options..."

I am not depressed at all though, I am actually 100% happy and content when I can just be home and chill and not worry about things. The issue is I have two teens and a job and some social situations that really stress me out and worry me to the point I feel like I am going mad.

Lexapro will fix that but will kill your sex drive and add weight. I’ve done 3 rounds of Lexapro and tons of therapy and now feel like I can handle it without meds.

That's a no then because weight contributes to my anxiety.

I am on Lexapro and basically have no side effects. I was very worried about potential weight gain so track it closely and I have actually lost 3 pounds. It’s changed me life for the positive.

Low dose lexapro numbed my emotions to the point where I didn’t care about much of anything. I also gained weight and that made me depressed.

Zoloft at 25 or 50 made me feel much better, no depression, lessened anxiety and no weight gain.

Cymbalta is a SSNRI which I a bit different than a SSRI. Great drug for anxiety.

It is also prescribed for this type of anxiety (most of these meds are for both even if it's called Off-Label). Of course talk with your doctor before you do anything. But the Lexapro side effects may be very real and could potentially wipe out sexual relations from one's life while pilling on lbs.

All of this. Up 30 lbs in 6 months, no sex interest, and my emotions were flat. I noticed I no longer really cared or had emotions that varied. Weaned self off slowly. Weight stuck around.

25 mg Fluoxetine. I gained about 15 pounds, but it's leveled off. I was able to start exercising and got in better shape because I was in a better place mentally. Sertraline gave me horribly gastro problems.

Zoloft does wonders for my anxiety. It actually kills my appetite and I have to remind myself to eat.

I learned to not take Sertraline (Zoloft) on an empty stomach. I only take it while I’m in the middle of a meal, and I drink plenty of water with it. Taking it on an empty stomach always gave me the runs.

I was born with GAD and panic disorder and never knew a single person with anxiety when I was younger. None of these SSRIs did a thing for my anxiety except give me depression to go with it. But they work for everybody else. I really wish stress would not be confused for the real thing as it impacts the small number of us who really have it.

None of you have real anxiety or even know what it is.

Lexapro. I gained but needed to as I have osteoporosis and a history of ED. Also for a lifetime I’ve had great difficulty eating and maintaining a baseline level of nutrition due to anxiety.

Going on nearly 20 years of an SSRI and it these meds changed (and saved) my life.

What do you do to try to manage your GAD with a panic disorder? I have a family member who has struggled daily for years with severe anxiety (and also has frequent panic attacks). No combination of medications has seemed to make a noticeable difference. Weekly therapy is already happening.

Just because you haven't found a cure/solution/treatment that works for you, doesn't mean that other people don't have anxiety and SSRIs can/do work for them.

Sorry you haven't found relief, but you are not the center of the universe and your experience does not dictate whether anxiety exists for others or not.
