What do you think they are trying to get away with?

I have no idea. Likely nothing at all.
But it shows a certain failure to deal with basic administrative responsibilities that may or may not be indicative of other shortcomings. Take the information or leave it. I’m certainly not advocating that it should be a major consideration in your school selection process. |
| I think it is interesting merely because I wonder what caused them to have the tax lien. I thought religious schools didn't have to pay taxes to the state. |
Why would you assume it’s an administrative failure on the part of the school and not the DC Department of Tax and Revenue. |
Definitely withdrawing our application!! |
Because they would have to receive many notices and correspondence related to the underdeposited tax and/or penalties before DC filed a lien. It usually happens over the course of months and more often years of them trying to contact the taxpayer with no response. It may be a very minor underlying matter, but they need to have better administrative safeguards if it got to this point without resolution. |
| Interesting that you are reviving this post on the day Visi announces acceptances. |
