I'm sorry OP, you seem so ignorant, I'm starting to question whether this is real...

10:20 you are so cute.. - I don't know East Shore I am ignorant? then yes I am. We all have to start somwhere don't we?

To other serious posters, thank you so much for your recommendations. I really appreciate.
We did travel plenty with our cat - just not on the East Coast. Many hotels do support cats just the same as dogs.

A cat and a rabbit? They do not need to be walked! I've owned both. Hire someone to watch them.

Where are you? MD or VA? You're starting point matters!

No they don't need to be walked therefore we don't need to be walked so we don't need dog access beach. We don't want to leave them behind
for many reasons and we used to travel them before just in different areas, there are lots of hotels in US and other countries tatha allow
small pets in the rooms with no problem.

You can also get to the Jersey Shore in 3.5 hours (I'm here now with my 2 kids). Don't know about pets but you could look into Ocean City, NJ--VERY kid friendly and a dry town. The beach is nice and clean, the boardwalk is all about the kids (minature golf, water park, amusement park, etc.). We're actually staying closer to Atlantic City--a 15-20 minute drive from OC. There are other towns--Margate, Ventnor, Longport. Can't make a recommendation for hotels. There are alot of condo rentals. You may actually be able to get a deal at the Casino hotels but I doubt they allow pets.

OP If you are willing to drive a little bit farther Chincoteague Island is a great place to take kids, you can drive to the 13 miles long national seashore (no looming highrises, yuck!) climb a lighthouse, go fishing, rent a boat, ride bikes, there's a nice city playground, the kids could take pony riding lessons at the Pony Centre, minigolf and ice cream parlors.
The house rentals there are WAY cheaper than anywhere from Lewes to OC except maybe Ocean Pines (a flat island just west of Ocean City over a bridge, which is buggy but everybody has screen porches, and has good rental rates.)
I've heard Ocean City NJ is good for kids, I have also been meaning to visit Cape May because I hear the Victorian architecture is cute and there are many good restaurants there, more than Rehoboth or so the claim goes?
