no

No on two hours. Look at a map, sweetheart. Four hours, plenty. Most rentals do not allow pets.

Three hours will get you to Bethany Beach, which I believe is considered dog friendly.

Three hours gets you to Rehoboth, and there are plenty of houses there that allow dogs.

I found this link useful in looking for pet friendly places on the beach in Virginia Beach. Might be a little further than your 2 hours time zone but not much.

OP, you are at least thREE hours from the ocean here, sadly. Explains the general attitude!

OP here.. okay, let's make it 3.5 hours..

what are your recommendations for really cool place for kids.. clean, really clean hotel prefferebly new one,
something to do aside from sand and beach although very important to have access to the clean sand and sun..

Look here's the deal. These are the ONLY places you can get to in 3.5 hours: Lewes, Dewey, Rehoboth, Bethany and Fenwick Island, all in Delaware. Ocean City MD.

That's it.

Lewes has no hotels on the ocean, so that's out.

Dewey has no new hotels and is not for little kids, so that's out. The things to do there are drinking alcohol and partying.

That leaves you with Rehoboth, Bethany and Fenwick. Someone can jump in here and promote a really clean and/or new hotel on the beach, but I can't think of one off the top of my head. Certainly not a "new" hotel that will accept dogs, on the beach.

Ocean City, MD is by far the largest beach town within 3.5 hours of DC, with the most hotels, so I'd try there first. I can't say it's a very cool place for kids, though. Busy and crowded with lots of mini-golf and ice cream, yes.

all right.. so between Ocean City and Virginia Beach.. which one seem nicer and cleaner and better kids-wise?

P.S... OP here..
2 pets = not dogs. one cat and one rabbit. so hotel need to accpet pets but no beach needs to have a dog access.

This is ridiculous. You can't bring a rabbit to a hotel, and I am guessing you can't bring a cat either.

Leave the pets at home. Have you traveled with the cat before? That's really highly unusual, and I doubt you will find any decent place that will allow a cat to roam around. Could you get a pet sitter to come to your house every day and take care of your pets while you're gone?

My experience with Ocean City and Virginia Beach is that VB is nicer and cleaner, but when I was there ages and ages ago, there were a lot of jellyfish in the water. Ocean City is a kid magnet. Kid heaven. Adults, not so much. I prefer Rehoboth, because it has kid stuff but isn't quite as low-brow as Ocean City (and again, I haven't been to OC in forever, so maybe it's changed).

In Virginia Beach, you could try Ocean Beach Club (it's a condo building that rents some of its units). It's beautiful and on the ocean, but I'm not sure it they take animals:

There's also a Hilton that's beautiful with a rooftop pool and a delicious restaurant. They have bonfires on the patio in the evenings with live music.

There are also two newer Residence Inns. I like the one on the north end of the beach.

All of these places should be clean. OBC and Hilton are pricey. Again, I'm not sure if any of them take pets.
