44 when Dad died. He was 80.

I’m now older than mom was when she passed. That was a bit of a mindf@&$.

Dad was 81, I was 45. Healthy, in shape, still working, never overate, and active but heart disease runs in the family.

39 when my dad died; 47 when my mom died. I miss them all the time and especially miss that my kids don't have them in their lives. All my friends still have 1 or both living parents. It's hard not to be envious.

NP. Wow, how sad that so many posters lost a parent so young... that just makes one realize (once again) how short life is.

Those whose parents died so young, would you mind sharing the cause?

In my case (45) parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, also those of DH, are still alive. All 80 and above. They are just now starting to decline, so I guess we need to brace ourselves for the first losses...

I’m one of the PPs whose dad died when he was 44 and I was 16. He had undiagnosed celiac disease before it was a disease people were aware of. That led to cancer and he died of internal bleeding. From diagnosis to death was like 3 months.
