Shootings in Bethesda?

I think Potomac is closer to McLean if you are evaluating apples-to-apples, while Arlington is closer to Bethesda.

Ummm, Tysons? You can pick out any random restaurant in Tysons and it pretty much dominates Bethesda. Ingle Korean steakhouse, Wren, Eddie V. Hell even North Italia is better than anything in Bethesda, which has been going downhill for about 15 years. Remember when Black's used to be good? I do. But barely

Bethesda dining IS pretty terrible.... the middle of the road/pub restaurants are superior to the fancy ones with a few exceptions.

McLean

I'd go for McLean, OP. MoCo is adopting a lot of legislation similar to DC re: 2nd Look Acts, restorative justice, etc. As is Arlington. Bethesda is safer than DC but not nearly as safe as 10 years ago. The proximity to DTSS and DC and Beltway mean spillover crime.

I am disappointed that DC crime is seeping into the Bethesda enclave, however. There are multiple complexities to cracking down on crime. DC has just released a new crime bill, and hopefully things will slowly improve. I imagine McLean is safer, though? But not the same vibe, so it depends what you want. The Bethesda suburbs are safe as well.

Don’t blame this on DC PP. this is Bethesda crime.

I live in DC and people come into DC to commit crime and then evaporate over the border, but sure vice versa is true. Both sides need to toughen up.

Traffic is a nightmare in Bethesda.

Crime is getting worse, and it's getting worse in Bethesda. But relatively speaking, it's much worse in Silver Spring, some other parts of east County, and Montgomery Village and Germantown.

Politics here are very self serving and the quality of all sorts of services are declining as a result. However, I don't know how that compares to McLean or other parts of VA. Maybe they are experiencing the same thing

Go put in the street name you are interested in, and you can find out what types of police calls for service there are.

Some people on this board have an agenda and they are happy to make it sound like people in Bethesda are living in Fort Apache the Bronx — I mean yes crime is up but “the ghettoization of Bethesda is complete” is just nonsense

I’d be more worried about crossing the American legion bridge every day. Live wherever you don’t have to do that.

Fortunately there are other options, like walking, biking, e-scooters, Metro, buses, and in a few years, the Purple Line - so you don't have to be stuck in a car on a road with a bunch of other people in their cars stuck on the road.

LOL at comparing Tysons to Bethesda. Is that a joke?

Tysons is an office hellscape with zero downtown (excuse me, "The Boro"). Eddie V's..really?

Moving to a specific location, unless it is a bunker in a remote area, is silly.

Is this why you live in Capital Heights?

+1. It's ridiculous. There's a nutcase who hates MoCo in general and will jump on any possible point--say, a carjacking yesterday, even if carjackings happen all the time throughout the DMV--to say MoCo and places like Bethesda are dumps.

Ignore this poster. No doubt he has a MAGA flag hanging off the back of his pickup truck.

LOL and +100. You couldn't pay me to live in soulless Tysons, or to eat at boring, predictable Eddie V's for that matter.

The violent or scary types of crime in Bethesda are largely from criminals traveling to Bethesda from other areas. It's not crime by Bethesda residents.

Unfortunately crime has spiked in DC and surrounding areas and we are subject to the spillover.

OP- McLean is probably less susceptible simply because its further from DC, Silver Spring, and PG where a lot of the criminals travel from from.
