My 13 year old has a loft bed from PB Teen. We all hate it. Making the bed is impossible and I miss being able to sit on the edge of her bed to chat with her, fold clothes, etc.
Even though we measured many times before ordering, it really makes the room look cramped and it’s high enough that she worries she could bump into her ceiling fan. Strongly discourage anyone from getting one of these very expensive beds! |
| Just got my 15 year old something similar to the OP, but with a footboard. So, it’s like a big queen sized leather couch. It’s not on a wall…in an L shape with his actual couch. He really likes it, he says it’s much cozier than his previously normal bed. Other kid has a low platform type bed, he likes that a lot, something about it being low to the ground makes it more sleep inducing for him. |
| Two of my kids have antique beds and one has a bed from Ikea. I wouldn't choose the bed pictured because I had a daybed as a teenager and it made me feel weirdly claustrophobic... and I didn't like the way it dictated my furniture placement. But I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy the bed you showed ... it looks cozy. |
| Mine has a twin bed that can double as a couch, I just had to buy cushions for the back. |
| My husband and I had a metal framed bed. It was beautiful, but as the years went by it got very creaky. We had to get rid of it because it got so annoying. |
Ok thank you for this! We were considering one of the low loft beds and had some concerns. The room is really small and I’m trying to figure out how to make the space work better but maybe this is not it! |

My teen has this from Wayfair but it's out of stock. She really likes the storage ottoman at the end.

how old is the kid. if only for a couple of years, it's a waste.
also, absolutely not in front of a window like that. one more thing ... it's ugly. |

One has a full size bed with the ikea storage bed: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/brimnes-bed-frame-with-storage-white-luroey-s09007554/ + https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/brimnes-headboard-with-storage-compartment-white-70228716/
The other has a PB Teen twin with storage under it. This one is pretty high so making it is a bit challenging. https://www.pbteen.com/products/cleary-captains-bed/?catalogId=21&sku=9210846 |

Plain old metal bed frame and they have plastic totes underneath them.
It's utilitarian but that's what they both wanted. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017YETHUS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
We have the Brimnes without headboard due to room size. Can someone recommend a head board that is not as wide as the one linked? Also, cannot have a night stand because of the drawers. I regret buying this. |

My tween has this:

Pp again. Mattress is an XL twin |

No to anything but a normal looking bed.
Corner beds, daybeds, loft beds, etc... are all so hard to change the sheets and lose their luster very quickly. I would simplify it and get a simple platform or metal bed with a cool headboard. My DD's friend has a basic metal bed and they put LED lights around the outside perimeter of the metal before adding the mattress. Then did a pink shag headboard. Simple, cheap, and it looked really cool. |
