What is the etiquette on "outing" people here?

It's gross and the "is this you?: link" people are little $#its but I have seen very specific posts that I could have written myself so there is a degree of shared themes.

Are you the parent abusing their child and worried about CPS?

I'm much more careful about how I post now. The mistake I made was in initially not caring about my anonymity that much. I thought "eh, if someone figures out this is me, who cares." But the poster or posters trying to unmask me were pretty vicious in their comments and I realized that people can be scary on here and there is a lot of safety in staying anonymous. Since then there are some things I do not post at all, and I mask anything personal a lot. You have to protect yourself.

Yep. There are legit bats*** mentally ill crazies on here. Jeff needs to stop emboldening them. He helps out the crazies when they ask in threads on this sub forum. It’s not cool that he confirms people started multiple threads and sometimes he details their location too. The crazies use that and connect dots. It’s disturbing.

The crazies who do that should be banned.

How is recognizing a post/er crazy? If someone is recognizing you, clearly your post isnt very anon?

Often the location info is to prove the op is not a troll, which I understand but it's not like the people screaming troll are phased by those facts.

It’s not crazy at all. It just means people here vomit out their personal issues/info way too much and then get mad when people recognize them. Oh well. Thats the internet for you.

If you log in, can you delete your own old posts?

When you post, you should add a lot of irrelevant fake info to your story, to confuse the spies.

That’s what I do!

The crazies feign like they’re troll cops to sus out details from Jeff. Even being a troll cop confirms these people are nuts and spend way too much time online.

It is crazy. The alternative is to simply ignore it and move on. These crazies can’t help themselves and think this forum is a true crime podcast.

Nope, just a parent who posted something that referenced specific test results in one thread, and then another thread that had information about kid’s school and grade and family composition that was identifiable.

Recognizing that two posts might be the same isn’t crazy. Posting about it is.

It’s the same as if you find out personal information about a person IRL. Maybe you’re in the ladies room when someone comes rushing in to throw up. Wondering or realizing they might be pregnant is normal. Asking about it in a public setting if they haven’t shared at work is crazy and mean.

I agree with you in general.

But that isnt in any way shape or form similar to posting on an anon website though.

Yes to this. Getting mad that someone might have posted the same thing more than once and flipping out about it is not healthy. There are a handful of what are clearly repeat posters I've come across on here and if/when they start to annoy me, I just stop reading those threads. They do not take up any mental space in my brain because... why? I assume they are troubled and hope they get the help they need.
