Which your kid will not be attending as an undergrad. . .

+1
It's always funny to me when parents think their *undergrad* has to have access to a medical school.

Wouldn't proximity to a medical school translate into quality internship opportunities or part-time lab work? Not to say that medical schools would be the only option for a quality internship for a science major interested in medical research.

Undergrads can intern during the summers. They don't have to be on a campus with access to a hospital.

VT = not enough of a pipeline to med school

Why do people comment as if they know things when they are ignorant? Amazes me they take the time to write anything—as if what they have to say holds any merit!
VT has excellent pre-med outcomes based on what they share on their website
And yes they have a medical school as well.

Look at outcomes on their website. And what support pre med students get.
Many doctors attended undergrad institutions that don’t have a medical school attached, that part is irrelevant. Outcomes and undergrad opportunities are what you want to dig deep on.

Pitt has a guaranteed admit med school program. If that is an option, go that route. Otherwise, VT is a great choice.

so many of you don’t have a fundamental basic understanding of the difference between pre med and medical school.

VT simply for cost, unless kid received merit from the others. And if kid wants to go to VT. Save all money for after undergrad. No matter where kid goes, they need great grades and to take advantage of all research and internship opportunities.

Too late for that option.

Also the Pitt auto admit is a 4 yr undergrad program- many are 3 yrs and you get your BS upon completion of first year of med school. Just something to keep in mind since some other programs shave a year off undergrad which can help tremendously if full pay.

So, are you claiming VT pre-med students aren’t getting accepted into medical schools? Any evidence of this claim? What exactly does your statement mean?
