Would you rather ne called ugly?

My personal definitions -

Cute: attractive person of any age who gives off a youthful, innocent, diffident or perhaps vulnerable vibe, even though they might not be any of these things. Usually also implies something "less than" stunningly beautiful.

Handsome/beautiful: attractive person of any age who has classic good looks, as defined by the dominant culture.

Pretty: somewhere between the first two.

I have been called cute on numerous occasions. Rarely pretty. Never beautiful. I agree with this assessment of my exterior

Privileged 😂 do we now have to preface our posts with s sob story so that people don’t get offended with a simple question. Lighten up!

Again, repeating that I just wanted to know what it meant. Not hard to grasp, is it?

Agree!

Not round but your reply made me smile. I’m on the short though 5’4”

Good lord! Some of you are grouchy!

Where did I say I was offended?

Cute is most akin to perky. Not hot/sexy/spicy/sophisticated/elegant but seems fun enough to bang and hang out with and maybe have a relationship ship with.
It’s kind of generic but still good.

Have you never called old people cute? Like a little old lady or little old man cute. Maybe an old couple that has been married 500 years and they’re so cute. You’re like that.

Men are responding to your somewhat obvious efforts: highlighted hair, face full of make-up, petite frame with a form-fitting outfit and the fact that you give them encouraging eye contact. Appearance is obviously something you dissect and discuss with your daughter at home- she rushed to tell you someone thought you were cute because she knew it would bring pleasure. A bit disingenuous to come on here asking about what “cute” means.

Attractive but not oozing sex appeal.

I understand that a little girl could be cute but how is a grown woman cute?

Cute means non-threatening and beauty.

You guys are hilarious with your assumptions. DD is away at college and texted me what her friend said, we didn’t discuss or dissect anything. Anyway, why am I being disingenuous?

I do appreciate the posters who provided exactly what I was looking for: a simple, clear, and non-judgmental response.

I'm going to have to assume that whoever called you cute did not actually have a conversation with you because you are so prickly and defensive that nothing about it comes off as cute. Maybe enjoy the compliment on your appearance and hope they don't realize how sensitive you are.

+1

My kids K teacher has college kids and is “cute.” She’s a positive, happy person, short, a little pudgy, long hair, smiles a lot, freckles.
Cute.
