A couple of the Jr Champ cuts are easier than 14 & U cuts so I assume a swimmer could swim both if they don’t make a 14 & U cut but make the Jr Champs cut. |
In my kids’ club, 14 and under swimmers go to JOs. Junior and Sr Champs are for older kids. |
Hmm, Junior champs psych sheet just came out, and there's plenty of under 14s going. I saw one 11 year old? I guess that language is open to interpretation or coaches just ignore it because tradition. |
Which language? Junior champs should be open to anyone with time standards, following entry rules. |
Junior Champs are also for parents. Note a couple of entries in the 40+ category. |
Swimmers must have equaled or bettered the applicable Qualifying Times listed and have not achieved a faster time than the 2024 SC Senior Champ QT or the 2024 PVS JO 13-14 Qualifying Time. |
This is just saying that you can’t swim an event at Junior Champs where you have the (faster) 13-14 JO cut. It doesn’t prevent kids from swimming different events at both meets. The Junior Champs psych sheet shows that the events aren’t just NST, they have a range, so you have to be faster than a certain time but also can’t be faster than the 13-14 JO cut. |
There are a lot of kids swimming who have the faster 13-14 JO cut. Look at the distance events, for example. |
I looked at the women’s 1650 which has some 13-14s in it and none of them have a seed time faster than the 13-14 JO cut. On the psych sheet for Junior champs it has the time range you must be between for each event, you can’t swim in the women’s 1650 with a seed time faster than 19:49.99, which is the 13-14 JO cut. I don’t see what you’re talking about. |
The 13-14 mile JO cut is 19:49.99. Every one of the registered swimmers 14 and under in that event are seeded with a time faster than 19:49. |
