Anyone else think life is meaningless in the winter?

Lean into the quietude and reflectiveness of the season. It’s hibernation time.

I feel like everything is meaningless until spring. I don’t know how else to describe it. I’m not “depressed”; I get up on time every morning, do the things I have to do, find enjoyment in other things, have moments of joy. But it all feels pointless, like somehow life is on pause. (Which I guess, it sort of is!) Does anyone else experience this? January is hard.

Yes for me its about 3 months a year...Jan/Feb/March. A bit longer if spring is delayed too much.

Me. I hate winter. It’s getting worse every year.

Yes it is always cloudy and gray in winter in this area. Lifelong resident.

I hate winter too (and even fall). But no, it doesn't feel meaningless... it feels like the time to work a lot at my job and be productive. The rest of the year is for non-work stuff

If winter is depressing for you, move to tropics. Life is short.

NP. What? I moved to this area from Pittsburgh 30 years ago. It's so much sunnier here than there in the winter. The last few years before this one had particularly sunny winters.

It’s depressing. I think with December, at least we have Christmas to look forward to. January is just so dull and boring and everyone hibernates. I can’t wait until march and April.

I love winter. It's the perfect time to organize my closet, maybe touch up my home decor/home improvement, spend lots of time working out/try new exercise classes, take a look at my diet and try some new supplements/recipes, get my highlights touched up, go to the spa, take a vacation in Feb/March, start seedlings for my garden, go to museums, go to the opera...before I know it, it's feeling like summer by April.

People are going to hate this comment but I started playing pickleball and I literally don't have SAD this winter, for the 1st time in decades.

Where?

This is me. I feel like I wish the time away until it gets warm again, and that’s not a good way to live.

As an objective fact, life is pointless. We are tiny specks, who live a very short time in a vast, cold, random, uncaring, and often brutal universe. But, yes, I feel it more acutely during the grey winter months.
