I love their short velvet and linen dresses. But they are so expensive. I try to catch them on sale. Sometimes the TJMAXX in Tysons will have some pieces.
I will say I think the billowing pants and oversized shirts a little Chico-est. I also love Anthropologie. I shop there constantly. |
I love it and was about to respond No but see others consider 40+ to be older so I guess it is. I'm low 40s and have a few pieces that are more understated. I'm not into the louder styles though |
Agree |
It really does depend on the pattern. They vary a lot and some look older than others. |
lololol |
It’s ridiculously overpriced, so I think it’s more for affluent people…regardless of age.
I mean, isn’t Anthropologie for 30/40 somethings? |
Yes. |
I agree. |
I’ve seen 30 something women in their dresses and it looks very Anthro. But some of the patterns are older looking. In either case, “rich hippie” is accurate. |
I don't think that is what was intended but that is in fact the demographic that wears Jonny Was. I wandered into a store the other day and no one in there was under 50. |
That's because you have to have already paid off your mortgage to shop there.
I think their stuff is lovely and I'm NEVER buying it. |
I'm 55 and I freaking love Johnny Was. It's coastal grandma meets hippie chick and I'm all in on it. |
When I was traveling in Sausalito last fall, I was wearing a beautiful embroidered colorful dress from Anthropologie that I have held onto for several years and always get knock out compliments on. A woman who worked at the gallery we browsed through looked at me and said “Your dress is gorgeous, it’s a Johnny Was?”
I had no idea who that was and had to look it up. I was early 30s. |
I had never heard of it until my mother (73) showed me a top she bought there. She is everything described here, rich old hippie. |
I have a jacket from there and I get compliments on it when I wear it. Some of their stuff is definitely OTT but I like an occasional piece to liven up outfits.
