Why do we need this department? I really don’t understand.

How else will govt lifers get cushy 6 figure jobs and pensions? You gotta create positions.

This reporter is a jerk. I’m not happy about kids like this being in the schools either but there are a ton of legal restrictions on what he can say here and grabbing him in the parking lot and trying to badger him into a substantive statement is totally unfair. I’m sure his response needs to be vetted through the lawyers to make sure it doesn’t violate FERPA or the state juvenile justice laws. If it were me I probably would have said “I’m sorry but there are legal restrictions on what I can say here. I will get you an answer but I can’t speak off the cuff on this. I can tell you that the safety of all our students is of paramount importance and is something I personally take extremely seriously. Thank you.”

How about an office of tracking parents that don’t do their job as parents and throwing them into jail office. Two offices in the title for clarity sake.

No. This is empty and patronizing. This line of talk is offensive and pisses people off more than it placates them.

We need action, not empty rhetoric.

They'll send the next three years officially defining what a child is. Meanwhile nothing will change except perhaps more bureaucrats on the taxpayer's dime looking for problems and having conferences on them and authoring policies to create even more bureaucrats to look at the problem, but never actually solving them.

All I know is that I support this program 100%, because if you don't support it, you don't support children.

I hope this is sarcasm.

Couldn’t they just do more to discourage women who shouldn’t be having children from having unprotected sex with men who don’t contribute to their kids’ well-being? Sounds like a big tax-and-spend welfare program.

Except it's not. That much is abundantly clear.

"I know Wes Moore and respect his work, but I find his stance on child issues to be quite liberal. I'm surprised that his military background didn't shape a stronger emphasis on accountability and hard work for kids, rather than leaning towards restorative justice, which some might view as wishy-washy or soft on crime."

Proving that nothing he could say would satisfy people so he was right to say nothing. He is prohibited by law from saying anything specific about what steps will be taken in a particular disciplinary case. So nothing he could legally say will satisfy you. Do you expect him to just announce a major policy change in a parking lot with a fox reporter in his face? That would not be a good way to develop or roll out policy. Being a public servant is such a thankless job.

By next year, the state’s projected structural budget deficit grows to $1 billion. In fiscal 2027, the last year of Moore’s term, it grows to $1.3 billion. A year later, it more than doubles to $3 billion — about 12% of the general fund revenues projected for that year.

Just admit you hate children, you monster.

I think there’s real trouble brewing between Vinny and Moore. This report details the latest mess:
