What do you call shoes that you wear while working out?

I just call them shoes since that's the only kind of shoe I ever wear. Sometimes I might refer to them as my Asics. I actually can't think of a conversation where I had to call my shoes anything.

"tennis shoes" to me are those specific ones with very flat soles that you have to wear to play tennis.

Dont tennis players just wear "regular" sneakers/running shoes? They wear nikes and adidas and the like. Do people really differentiate between gym shoes and tennis shoes if they are just nikes?
