How does MCPS respond when teachers go AWOL?

Classroom coverage. Sucks for the staff, but I imagine they'd be supportive if there are mental health issues.

Then she should not be teaching.

Not helpful. Teachers are people and are allowed to have issues, feelings and problems like other people.

If she is not abusive to children there is no issue here. After what teachers had to live through with teaching cut them more slack than normal.

Thank you (from a teacher). It’s rare to see this level of kindness toward teachers on DCUM.

+1 Mental health is as real as other medical issues. Pretty sure you wouldn’t say the same about a teacher in a wheelchair or one who had diabetes. People who have mental health disorders can still live a “normal”(whatever that means) life if they have appropriate treatment.
Not guilty by reason of diabetes isn't a thing. Everyone should be concerned if their kid's teacher has a mental disorder that makes them unstable.

Why are you posting about this on DCUM, OP? I find it unkind to both the teacher and her family.

It’s local news you moron. Are you writing this to the news stations too?

She goes "missing" whenever stars are aligned.

NP. You’re quite the little jerk. Coverage in the local news is a public service announcement. A thread on this forum is an invitation to cruel gossip and speculation.

But some of you clearly have such sad lives that you live for this kind of stuff.

It's 16 degrees out and she went missing in MoCo. Whether or not the OP is approaching this from a kind angle, it is helpful information for those of us in Takoma Park/Silver Spring to keep our eyes open.

I second that. DCUM is even mean to teachers who have cancer or miscarriages.

Go concern troll somewhere else. You are the pathetic one.

I hope they find her quickly. I feel terrible for her family. This is heartbreaking.

Yeah, in DCUM’s eyes, teachers are slaves to be fired at their word, sub-human babysitters meant to deal with their spawns and should be ridiculed at every turn. They are lazy women who do nothing but complain, fail to teach, stayed at home for 2 years and deserve to go missing, be killed or whatever comes their way. This is why I ban my girls from ever becoming a teacher. It is forbidden!

Unstable doesn’t mean harmful. I teach with a man with diabetes who can become a little silly when he has an issue with his blood sugar. He’s not a danger to the kids and they learn about the condition which is very common. They get to practice compassion and some have become interested in medical or research fields.
