There was an insane amount of strep last year—news articles were written about it and everything. Sort of like the post lockdown rise of RSV and flu last year. Not sure if this year is looking similar.
I had strep last April/May and it was the sickest I’ve been in a long time. My throat didn’t really hurt bad at all…I had a terrible cough and a fever that would not go away. I was so miserable. The doctor didn’t think it was strep either but was like literally it’s everywhere right now and sure enough bam. I don’t even have tonsils! |
Thanks, I am the PP with the sore throat, I went to get tested and indeed it was strep
Is regular amoxicillin good enough to wipe it out? |
I'm OP. They gave me amoxicillin for 10 days. |
Are you feeling better? This was as bad as a flu for me. |

My teen got it a few times a year when he was little. Not tonsils out bad, but enough that we knew it was coming.
He often comes with tummy troubles. But no runny nose or cold symptoms. Whenever my kid or I had a glass shard throat and tummy upset, we knew. The doctor would often say "wait a few days and come back for a test" which I refused to do. Every single time it was strep. Easy to treat, and resolves pretty quickly (at least the symptoms...you still need to isolate for a few days). |
Yes, thanks for asking. |
