| Maybe Durham NC area? |
| Nowhere. We like our home and life here. |
| My mom is in Santa Barbara and it’s pretty fabulous as a retiree. Gorgeous, great weather and food, amazing culture for such a small place, easy to get to major cities. We will likely keep a place there and in NYC where we live and go between the two. Dh will also inherit an apartment in Paris so we may keep that and go between the three, or get a place in the south of France. |

Will stay in DMV near friends.
Might change this based on where kids move and if I/we need assisted care at some point. It’s expensive here but starting over with making all new friends is a lot to handle. |
| I have no idea! Probably somewhere within a few hours of DC. I want to be near water, hopefully somewhere walkable to some amenities. Someone I know moved to a house on the York River and I love the pictures she shares. I can’t see myself anywhere rural - I like creature comforts and dining options too much. |
| Wherever my child is. |
Same. Any nearby beach towns you would choose? |
This sounds amazing and would be my dream retirement! |
| Colorado. |
I mean, I love Rehoboth as I used to go there as a kid with my family. More recently, we have spent time in the tidewater area as my parents got a little condo on the Bay in Norfolk. Either of those might work, but I haven’t done a ton of research. We’ve got a couple more decades at least! |
| Appalachia is a great place to retire. Land/homes are so cheap |
| Colorado in the summer/FL in the winter |
| We’re staying here. Health care is good and we have a wonderful network of friends. We’ll travel a lot but the DC area is home. |
| It’s many years away because I’m still in my late 30s. But I’ve thought about southern central PA. York, Harrisburg, Lancaster. It’s more affordable but they still have a lot of stuff to do and they don’t feel too rural. I’ve also thought about western MD. Weather issues in both areas are my only concerns because I don’t think my husband and I will want to be shoveling large amounts of snow as 70+ year old retirees. |
So far this is our plan, too. |
