They had that big girl hallway fight that was video’d recently too.
Fight club. |
Really? I have a child at W-L and I routinely hear about fights. I mean, at least every over week. There were two flights today! Most of these fights are filmed and circulated throughout the school, which is also very disturbing. |
At a different school but was told the kids often fight for the sole purpose of going viral. |
I think there is an insta or Tik Tok re account re the fights at this school. My teen was showing me yesterday. |
We need some "good samaritan" laws in Arlington. |
I asked my 9th grader about these fights based on this post. She knew about them. She also said that, until this week, things had been pretty calm since the beginning of the year. She said there must be something in the air this week! |
Are these kinds of fights common in high schools these days? Occasional fights were an issue back with my day but I didn’t think that was still a thing. |
There lots of these fights at Wakefield last year as well.
I think it's funny they say they "take things very seriously". In fact, they want students to participate in "healing circles" instead of actually doing anything about the problem. |
Did you report the account to the school? You should. This is not ok. |
What is happening with our kids and schools? There aren’t enough consequences. |
Not ok for whom? At least the information is getting out there and not being swept under the rug. |
Kids posting tiktoks of fights for views is getting info out there? That's whacked. |
Yes, fights are still happening. If you graduated high school in the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s, the kids who were regularly fighting and dysregulated over and over again were usually placed in alternative schools. That fell out of favor and just about everyone can agree it's time to reconsider. |
Most high schools have this now (obviously not sanctioned by the school.) My kid does not go to WL but I just looked on Instagram and it took me less than 10 seconds to find the one for WL. |
