RIP sun. The sun has died.

I know I’m an outlier but I much prefer cloudy days. The sun hurts my eyes, I need sunscreen, it can be hard to see while driving. I really should move to the UK.

I come from places that have less sunlight in winter. The DC area is actually the sunniest, most southern place I've ever lived in my 40-some years of life, after living in several countries.

So... it's all relative, OP.

Agree, OP, today’s midmorning sun only lasted a couple of hours and that’s the most we have seen for many days. I hate it.

That's what they said about today, and many days the past few weeks. But the sun was short lived. Cats everywhere are unable to charge themselves.

Get a better weather app. They didn't say today was going to be clear. I've been monitoring this week for an outdoor sport.

Apparently the sun only shines on you, no one else.

Get a lightbox if you know you have serious SAD symptoms. Otherwise, use candles and soft lighting throughout your house. Get outside even if it's simply standing in your own yard for a few minutes a few times per day when it's daylight. Also, remind yourself the days are already getting longer. We already have 12 more minutes of daylight today than we had on Christmas, and by January 31st we'll have added another 30min.

Hang in there.

Indeed. DP. My soul is singing cause the days are obviously getting longer. No longer night time at 5 pm. During the day I use 2 light boxes and turn all of the lights on in my room while I work at my standing desk. I open the blinds, light a scented candle and make the best of it. March is closer than ever.

So much better than yesterday!

I felt this post in my soul. Thanks, OP!

I'd call you Sun, but you're not very bright.

Here in south Florida it has not been chamber of commerce weather since before Christmas. We were up north over Christmas and didn’t see sunshine for nine days. Tornados in Florida, flooding in New Jersey……yuck.

It’s sunny in FL 🤣

I miss my home state of NM!

I am so with you. My seasonal affective disorder is 100x worse this year than ever. Compounded by having spent the last sunny week, ie early December 2023 in bed sick, it is brutal.

And yes, I ahve a $250 high powered sun lamp that is awesome (thank you, Northern Lights) but exposure is not going to fix this kind of SAD.

I had to go to the rocky mountains to find sun. So it isn't dead, just permanently relocated. Though now somewhere else, it has been snowing for 12 hrs.

I have been dreaming of the Caribbean and thinking of the book "Klara and the Sun" for weeks now. Hoping for change.

How are we supposed to have a future reliant on solar energy if it stays cloudy?

It's horrible. I really want to move to San Diego or someplace sunny!
