Make osso bucco! Needs all day, and is a real treat.

Thinking of doing those with maybe a flank steak or brisket, that’s actually what I was looking for recipes for on here when I came upon this post.

Ooooh, I love stuffed acorn squash in cold weather. I make it with Italian sausage and brown sugar. I might make it this weekend now.

Oh I’m
The poster you’re quoting and this intrigued me. Sugar and Italian sausage? Is it the sweet/salty thing? Sausage meat crumbled, or sliced into coins?

I made pot roast.

Same here! Except it was precooked (frozen) turkeys that were marked down. Put one in the deep freezer and the other is defrosting and will become turkey salad sandwiches and turkey soup tomorrow.

Can you share the recipe for the beef noodle soup please?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/recipes/chickpea-chorizo-spinach-soup/

-substituted hungarian hot peppers for the potatoes
-added regular and smoked paprika and thyme
-used kale instead of spinach.
-I use dried chickpeas (cooked ahead of time in the Instant Pot)
-Tip: Butcher's Alley in Bethesda has really good chorizo - both Spanish and Portuguese

It was delicious!

DP but bumping this thread to say thanks for sharing! My kids made this for dinner last night, and it's a keeper!

Honey baked ham mixed bean soup with brioche rolls. My housekeeper makes the most amazing brioche. She's the best.

Fri we had Thai takeout. Massaman curry is one of my favorite cold/dreary weather takeout dishes.

On a cold weekend day with nowhere to be, I like to cook. Tonight, I got a good quality piece of top sirloin and made Ottolenghi's Harissa-marinated beef sirloin with preserved lemon sauce, served it with with roasted fingerling potatoes and an arugula salad. It was divine.
