Just curious

My adult DD is more thoughtful. For my parents, one son is very caring, one isn't nearly as much but other siblings are similar regardless of gender. In my DH's birth family, he is most caring one with taking care of all expenses since last 35 years, two sisters are also caring but one inherited family house and doesn't have to spend a dime or lift a finger as my DH pays for two full time helpers, cleaners, physiotherapists etc. We can only know if she had to actually do anything but live with them and occasionally talk to them. One sister and brother doesn't even care to call or visit, even when in same town.

This was definitely the case for my family of origin, but I am discouraged to see it continuing into the younger generation!!! Why can’t we evolve, and raise males who step up (as parents, spouses and adult children)?!😡

"Step up"? That's a foreign concept in America or kids who grew up in America.

Well, an American posted the question…so you can step generalizing about what an entire nation’s citizens do and think.

That's a funny thing to say given the fact that your question is based on generalization.

No, it was actually asking for empirical data from DCUM readers. .

For my FIL, it was his son who did most of the heavy lifting (3 siblings, 1 girl 2 boys). FIL lived far from any of the kids and refused to move. Lots of visits made by all the kids, but it was the son (not my spouse) who did most of the work/care/decisions.
