question about JOs and NCSAs

My 11 year old is unlikely to make the A or B finals but if the C final is limited to just the younger kids, she will be solidly in that mix in her best events.

This year's meet announcement doesn't have that language in it-- so that might have changed and it's just the fastest 24. I checked and it was there for 2023.

The 2023 meet packet from NCSA site says this:

• 11-12 and 13-14 Preliminary events will be swum in two courses
• All 10 & under events will be swum in the course closest to the diving well and will be awarded after each event

Timed Finals with the fastest heat (8 swimmers) swimming at night with the Finals.
o Relays are Timed Finals, top two heats (16 teams) will swim in the final’s session, and the remainder will
be swum in the preliminary session.
o With the exception of the distance events which are swum as timed finals events, swimmers will advance
to finals using the following format
▪ A Final: Top 8 fastest swimmers from prelims regardless of age.

B Final: Next 8 fastest swimmers from prelims regardless of age.

C Final: Next 8 fastest swimmers from prelims that are the youngest of the age group (11- & 13-
year-olds respectively).
• 10 & Under Age Group
o All events are Timed Finals
o 10 & Under events will be swum as noted in the schedule below.

The 2024 meet packet from NCSA site says this: (has a DRAFT watermark on each page)

Thank you to the above PPs, DCUM sans snark can be a helpful place! Related question, does anyone know when the meet announcement for JOs will come out? My swimmer is trying to figure out what events to do at the February meet, but a lot will depend on what events they will be doing at JOs.

The order of events at JOs usually doesn't change, so look to the 2023 meet announcement to aid your advanced planning.

If it helps, meet announcements for all the March championship meets were out in the first week of February last year.

They also made a major format change pulling the 9-10 session. The meet had gotten so crowded! So, I would expect a straight top 24 since it was taken out of the meet announcement.

Although I do see one place they forgot to clean up 10U (Order of Events).

It would be nice to know this because I was assuming “bonus” final meant younger half of age group. My kid turns 12 a month before the meet anyway, but it was nice to have that last year and he made all the 11 year old finals even as a just-turned 11 year old (not bragging, making the point there are always much fewer of the younger half of age group at these meets). This year with him being a very young 12 I was thinking it will be really hard for him to even make the B final. Last year the A and most of the B final for 11-12 were boys who looked like full grown men (my current 11 year old does not ).
