I'm a woman, so I don't eat alone at bars.

You know that this is just your hang up, right? It’s perfectly acceptable for women to dine at the bar themselves. I always do when I travel alone.

Or maybe she gets a lot of unwanted attention? (I am also a woman and this is why I don't eat at bars).

I just ignore this shit. I’m not letting men’s behavior dictate mine.

I always sit facing the door.

It would feel weird to sit facing the wall. Always sit back to wall. Less boring, can watch people, & easier to get server attention.

Applause! Same here. I've traveled the world alone and weekly on business for years. Woman up and claim your rightful space.

I don't drink alcohol so don't ever want to sit by the bar. I always sit with my back to the wall and bring a book. I don't care what the hostess indicates beyond which table I should sit at. I'll choose my own seat.

I just get room service.

I will sit at bar or table. If at table definitely want my back to the wall. I also get a lot of take out when traveling.

I tend to choose fast casual, where I can pick my seat and face a window. But I agree that facing a wall would be weird. Maybe they are just offering you the closest chair. Or the one with the most room.

To be clear, the hostess does not actually have any opinion at all about where you sit. I promise, they aren’t think about you at all.
