| I’m traveling alone right now so I’m eating ant restaurants by myself. Every time I am seated by the wall, which makes sense because the small tables tend to be around the edges of restaurants, but I’ve noticed the host/hostess seem to indicate I should face the wall. Being alone I’d rather face out and people watch - am I supposed to be ashamed and face in instead? Is there an actual etiquette reason for this? Just curious! |
| I like to sit on the corner of a bar |
|
I asked for a seat at the bar. When that is not an option, I sit with my back to the wall and people watch.
I travel weekly for work and nobody has ever attempted to adjust my seating preferences. |
| Same, sit at the bar! |
| I also like to sit with my back to the wall in case there's a mass shooter. |
| I prefer to sit with my back to the wall. Or at the bar near the wall if possible. I no longer accept being seated in a dark corner or near the bathroom. |
| Sitting alone facing the wall is so weird! I would face out or sit at the bar. |
| Back to wall or at bar. |
|
I have never faced the wall. Always back to wall so I can see people.
I'm a woman, so I don't eat alone at bars. |
| Never sit with your back to the door. |
You know that this is just your hang up, right? It’s perfectly acceptable for women to dine at the bar themselves. I always do when I travel alone. |

I just get take out
|
Pretty much this. I never sit with my back to the door if at all possible. |
| Back to wall. Safety. |
Or maybe she gets a lot of unwanted attention? (I am also a woman and this is why I don't eat at bars). |
