OP, Do not listen to all of these responders who are pointing a finger at you & saying that you must have crippling anxiety, etc.! You have a very, very legit concern/question here. Sheesh. 🙄 I would feel comfortable doing the above since I really do not have a good answer to your question yet can understand your concern. |
Are there any studies to back up your concerns about cleaning services spreading disease in homes? |
The biggest problem in your post is the misconception that Fabuloso smells good. I beg of the world....make this product disappear. |
I would get a service where you supply everything. That could help with your anxiety. We provide all cleaning supplies and they use our vacuum. |
They absolutely should not be cross- using rags! They also should be using different rags for certain things. I once saw a cleaner wipe the table down to the floor and then wipe the salt and pepper rag next with the same rag. |
Fabuloso is disgusting and it’s gross to use the same sponge from house to house. You should provide those for her. |
After the time I spotted a cockroach in the bathroom after a cleaning, I stopped using that company. |
In hotels, they sometimes use the same rag for wiping down the toilet as they do for cleaning the drinking glasses on the bathroom shelf. Just because you wouldn't do something, doesn't mean that somebody under time pressure to finish cleaning a room doesn't do it. |
What would antibacterial products have to do with viruses anyway? Flu, covid, cold, norovirus, etc |
I think it is possible to cross contaminate if they use the same rags but they’re not using the same rags house to house. The rags would be too wet and dirty. I’ve seen them with giant bags of rags in their trunks. I think it’s unlikely a vacuum or mop would transfer germs, unless you eat off the floor. If you’re concerned, just provide the cleaning supplies; problem solved. |
Anyone who leaves "stomach virus or strep" germs for anyone but themselves to clean up is a real ahole. I think most people keep their homes clean in between cleanings! They may not do a deep cleaning but they vac, clean toilets, scrub sinks - all the germ havens. If you don't, YOU NASTY! |
The ignorance on this thread it hilarious.
They cross contaminate regularly you are not watching them ever second of the cleaning they will hit a spot on the floor then the counter same with in the bathroom. I worked as a maid we were trained to use the least amount of rags as possible and deducted pay if we used too many. Also it doesn't matter if you supply your own rags, they are used to cleaning one way and they do not worry about cross contamination just the area looking clean. We used windex on the faucets just for them to shine. If you are worried about germs its always best to clean your own house. Trust me. |
They can. Unless you ask them to put booties on and use your own vacuum, mop, etc. |
Of course OP!!!! You think they're schooled on how to clean properly? No they're trained on how to make visible dirt go away, nothing else.
You people expect so much from the help. |
My cleaner only brings in microfiber cloths, we supply everything else, including the cleaning products. |
