Teen loses AirPods at least annually !!

I am loathe to get her another pair even if that is her only gift (that was her only Xmas and birthday gift each time).

I try to let her get by with some target $15 earbuds but she says they are uncomfortable (i think they just look uncool).

Tell me how your teens don’t lose them?!

They are uncomfortable, but there are many other choices.

Personally, I like Beat Flex. They have different soft tips you can use. They are about $40.

Let her buy them herself. I absolutely would not buy another pair.

What does buy it herself mean when she doesn’t work? She just ask for them as her one gift from family for Xmas or birthday. So instead of a couple of checks from aunts and uncles we just get airbuds

I just want her to stop losing them! I think a purse would help or something like that to make them “bigger”.

She needs to pay. And there's also a middle ground between cheap headphones and AirPods. She can get $30 knock offs

That's a conversation you should have had after the first loss. Now it's headphone time, or nothing listening-related at all. Seriously, OP, I don't know why you're on here arguing your daughter's side. Your enabling her lack of responsibility here.

What you are going to do when she totals your car, and the one after that? Keep buying her new ones?

Find my phone includes being able to find your air pod case. Did you try that to find them?

I have three teenagers who have had air pods for years and while we’ve had to use “find my”. None of them have ever lost them such that they haven’t been able to find them.

Mine paid for his own and then paid again when he lost them.

We never had find my ever work for any of our AirPods. Maybe it’s a feature of the new gen, but worthless for ours.

If she wants to forgo all presents and just get AirPods that’s her choice. She could also get checks from all her relatives and buy AirPods. That is all in the future. My point is once that does come to pass, how do people not lose them if they actually use them daily?

Me and my 16 yo just lose thing often. I have some pretty elaborate rituals that took me years to develop to not do this as much. It’s like my brain blacks out where I put things. So I try not to be too hard on her.

The newer models (pro) are much better at being found. My older model wasn’t easily picked up by Find My.

Perhaps help her find a way to earn money? Is there a reason she can't? My kid is 13 and he is able to earn and save money for items like this.

And, of course, helping develop a system to keep track of things makes sense. But buying the same expensive item again and again isn't going to help anyone.

Has she tried a case with a keychain-type carabiner or clip? Between a bright color, and the clip to put it on a bag or belt loop, it would be harder to leave them behind.

They have lots of fun shapes and designs, but the simple ones can be super-cheap:

My 13 year old has had 2 hand me down AirPods and has lost both sets. He’s getting knock offs from Amazon for Xmas. No more AirPods.
