| Nothing directly from my parents but they were great role models for a loving relationship. My older brothers did give me advice but it was advice you’d expect from older brothers. In total I think I was well prepared. |

Basically this. The actual words were "Always have $20 cash for cab so you can leave" but the example was completely separate accounts their whole marriage. |

| When I finally confessed to my mother that I was very unhappy with my spouse who physically isolated me and made me quit my job and was controlling, she told me to stay with him so I could have a nicer house. When I eventually decided to leave him, she reached out to him and maintained a relationship with him instead of me. Needless to say, I estranged myself from my mother. My father, who basically lets my mother handle me, never even spoke to me throughout the whole thing. So, I don't really care what they think. |
