There's not a high school in the county that doesn't.

What do you supposed they should do? Lock the bathrooms? Hire staff to stand in the bathrooms all day? If you have ideas, maybe contact your local school board member.

I actually would like bathroom attendants, yes. I know everyone will yell about the cost but bathrooms being unusable / unsafe has been an issue since I was a kid.

They should have cameras outside the bathrooms.

Here's the national data:
https://drugabusestatistics.org/teen-drug-use/

It doesn't break it out by public/private--but private schools are not immune--nowhere is. There are fewer students in private schools and they are not considered public information in the same way public school are so you are less likely to hear about it outside of the school community.

I don't get what folks think schools should do regarding drugs. I did lots of drugs while at school. I mean short of strip searches and drug dogs I am not sure how to prevent it. I didn't do things in the bathroom, but just casually walking down the hall. Or even in class! Its easy to pop a pill/tab whatever without anyone noticing.

How do you think we can get this idea out there? I’m all for any ideas. I know my middle schoolers hates using the bathroom because the amount of kids who vape and make TikToks in there. It makes her uncomfortable.

FCPS just sent out this email with a link to this video about fentanyl. It hits hard, and can happen to anyone.

100% stopping drugs isn't going to happen. But arresting, prosecuting, and jailing the dealers will sure as heck cut down on the drugs.

We just got the email from Michelle Reid, reminds me of an old Richard Pryor line "Now they're calling taking drugs an epidemic - that's because white folks are doing it."

Instead of turning the dealers loose in some sort of play for social justice they need to get the max penalty. Probably Youngkin and Miyares will need to get involved because the Fairfax County crew seems to think that a few chats over the dinner table will solve the problem.

That's not great but if you OD at your desk somebody can immediately take action.

You also were probably (I hope) not threatening other kids, vaping, filming, fighting, or breaking things, all of which make bathrooms a problem. And which lead admins to lock the bathroom which is wrong too.
