Yes it's a classic situation of 'politician with a record' vs. 'politician without a [citywide] record'. JLG was for, roughly, defunding the police at one point. I feel she isn't now, but Gore has no votes either way.

It is hard to argue with this grim reality & we can't keep focusing on status quo politics and not the human death toll that has resulted from policy changes.

What status quo policies are you referring to? Since Pinto and the Mayor enacted their new tougher on crime bill in July, crime rates have gone up.
