Who is Opportunity DC?

I have been getting mailers that highlight crime in DC and making all sorts of allegations about Janeese Lewis George. The mailers say that they are paid for by "Opportunity DC" and provide a URL for "www.opportunity-dc.org" which seems to be a non-profit. There is also a related independent expenditures committee named Opportunity DC IEC that gets most of its funds from the non-profit.

I found this article:

which suggests that the Opportunity DC is closely linked to the Federal City Council. The article says that the Opportunity DC non-profit is able to raise money for political activities without disclosing its donors, in other words, it is a dark money organization. Because the non-profit is the biggest funder of the IEC, we really don't know who is funding campaigns such as this opposing Janeese Lewis George.

The Federal City Council has long worked behind the scenes to pull strings on the District's politics. Now it looks like the organization might be behind this dark money effort.

Does anyone know anything more about Opportunity DC?

Gross. You'd think they'd learn from the disgusting DFER attacks on Janeese.

On the end I just lose respect for the people pushing these attack ads. Maybe I'll even donate/volunteer more.

if you're curious enough, file a complaint with DLCP that they are an unlicensed business or operating without a proper charitable solicitations license.

Was the board member, Catharine Bellinger, part of the DFER attack ads before? Didn't DFER come out with a weak apology for that?

IDEA has a charter high school in DC. Is this our tax dollars going into lobbying for certain political candidates? Seems suspect.
