If you want to predict your kid's AAP acceptance: Were they pulled for enrichment by the AART in 2nd grade? On the report card in 2nd, does it say they were given above grade level work to do? At our school, these two things seem to be the constant with kids who eventually end up in AAP. Our 2nd grade teacher never said anything about AAP in any conference, but also we never asked. I have no idea what the GBRS said, and my kid's test scores weren't great. She's been thriving in AAP for a few years now.

4 or 5 years ago level II was described on the county website as a "talent development pool" for level IV (or, as our AART says we are to call it now, "the full-time AAP program").

OP again. We moved from another state so we don't have anything you mentioned. However DD was selected in a similar gifted program in her previous school since 1st grade. That's why I have been working to understand the system here. I don't want the moving to affect the things she used to have. And I know she'll thrive in AAP just as the previous gifted program. DD is already in level 3, which is a weekly three-time pull-out by AART. But we should be able to find out the decision this month. I'll come back to update.

When are packets sent to the committee? Like will the teachers and AARTs come back after winter break then take a week or two to pull together everything, then submit?

I believe that our packet should be sent out in December the latest since I was told the AAP decision is coming in December.
