What will happen to feds if a Republican is elected?

Anonymous
Maybe they will get an expansion in paid parental leave, as happened with the last republican elected...

It'll be a purge like China when Mao came to power. Re-education camps, etc.

Exactly.

I think they will try to purge major Dem donors from the DOJ and FBI, but that’s probably it.

Didn’t they accomplish almost nothing last time around? Seems like it will be more of the same.

Pretty much this.

The small government thing is a lie they tell voters to get elected.

At my agency there was almost continual confusion for the entirety of the Trump administration. The political appointees were so confused and confusing.m, the EOs were sort of impossible. I was impressed with how committed those of us in the civil service were to implementing that nonsense to the best of our ability. Republicans would be stupid to kick us out.

Oh, please. PP, political appointees, are always a hot mess at the start of every administration.

There is no way that the Republicans will ever win enough of a majority to do anything material in terms of civil service reform, and even if they did, not enough Republicans actually want to do it. There might be some window dressing and limited reform at the highest levels.

Not really. They came into the Biden administration swinging- it was mostly Obama people anyway. And then the Trump people also seemed immune to learning. They never really stopped being confused. Our office didn’t have a director for 18 months. 18 months!! I imagine they will get things moving faster the second time around but I’m not sure.

What they think and do is totally independent of what they spin up for their base.

DOJ and FBI might end as we know it. Reps are definitely on the warpath for these two agencies, and for understandable reasons. No matter how you spin it, both DOJ and FBI did some highly dubious, highly unquestionable investigations and tactics, including the fake Russian collusion and protecting Hunter Biden.

Other agencies I am not too worried. They will proactively cripple any official or unofficial DEI/AA and I can see a lot of Civil Rights type policies both for hiring and contracting being gutted but those will take a long time to shake out.

You are nuts. I understand you have a lot of company but DOJ and FBI are much friendlier to Rs and Trump than Ds and Hillary. And if you think there was no collusion with Russia and that Trump isn’t continuing to help Putin to this day you aren’t paying attention.

Did you watch the debate?

DeSantis absolutely destroyed Gavin Newsom who is the true dangerous nut.
