I like to bring dinner party desserts that be taken off a plate by hand, rather than cut and served (unless I'm hosting). My faves are:
Cook's Illustrated chocolate cream cheese brownies (yes they are brownies but beautiful and holy cow delicious): https://blog.bimajority.org/2014/09/01/other-peoples-recipes-cooks-illustrateds-cream-cheese-brownies/ Melissa Clark's cultured butter cookies: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1015209-cultured-butter-cookies NYTs Rich Chocolate Cookies (cut into holiday shapes like large snowflakes): https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1013392-rich-chocolate-cookies |
| PP from above; don't forget to make the foil sling for the brownies so they lift easily from the pan, then chill them down overnight so they can be sliced with a cold knife. Keeps the edges clean for a pretty presentation. |

Ah forgot this one: technicolor shortbread. These are beautiful:

Whip some stable cream before you leave( google- add yogurt or sour cream or cornstarch) and buy multiple flavors of gelato. Spoon a little hot coffee in, garnish with a dollop of whip cream and a biscotti. A lot of desserts aren’t worth the effort you put in- everyone likes ice cream. |

I make this, but in a Bundt with a light glaze. Everyone loves it and perfect for this time of year.

Flourless chocolate cake
Dark chocolate ganache tart Triple chocolate mouse cake (if want to be extra fancy) Some kind of trifle (though I’m more likely to do that in summer) |

This is easy and tasty but you need to be sure the host has freezer space to share: https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/mocha-ice-cream-cake-103791

| Sundaes - especially if there are kids. i take all the ingredients and let everyone serve themselves. |
| Amanda hesser’s almond cake |
| Barefoot Contessa chocolate ganache cake, served with berries (I always bring extra berries; there is always some dieting person in my circle). |
| Swedish almond cake, similar to one at IKEA |
