The risk assessment has been completed. The conclusion was that there is no imminent threat. I am sure the student is suspended, which is kind of irrelevant concerning whether he plans to show up to campus and shoot people. |
| How long is a suspension? |
| The email from school did not mention suspension. I wonder if the kid who made the threat will go to school tomorrow? |
I doubt it. Factor in that it’s Friday, and parents are more likely to keep their child home. My kid is going, but was chatting with friends online last night and some are staying home. |
| Kilmer parent- not sending my child to school today! The school ought to have provided more details. This is serious! The kid needs to be expelled. |
Even expelling him does not guarantee safety (could make things even worse). The police need to go into his home and confiscate all of his parents' firearms. |
| Will there be a follow up report? Is this kid going to school today and next week? |
| My kid went today. We discussed it last night and she wasn’t afraid so there wasn’t a reason to stay home. DH and I are not concerned. This will be one of the safer days in general at school if there is extra security. |
I doubt there will be a follow up. They won’t give the public discipline records of a specific student. That email was it. They did a risk assessment and found there to not be a risk. |
I hope you are not a parent or teacher....this is always a concerning statement. |
How would anyone know this? |
Our kids will find out after the fact. By now most of them know who it is. |
The hysteria is because school shootings are very real in America. |
| I’m not particularly worried about today-it’s probably one of the safer days with everyone on high alert and security increased. I’m more concerned that there is a troubled young teen who is potentially a ticking time bomb in our community. I really hope he gets the help and support he needs… |
What about the bullies at Kilmer? What is the school doing to teach them to be decent human beings? |
