Luxury hotels and dogs

It’s even more disgusting in costal towns where you see the dogs playing in the surf, rolling in the sand, any hotel there that takes a dog is a firm no from me. Sure your dog is sand and smell free…

The same with kids and adults. Should we ban them too? If our dog did those things, they'd get an immediate bath.

I have kids and dogs but I'll basically choose dogs over most people and other people's kids. I also own an Airbnb property and the level of disgusting shit that has been done to it is like 99% humans to 1% dogs.

You're free to spend you're money how you like. If I'm with my well behaved therapy dogs at the St. Regis you're going to have to hold your trap or force them to change policy, but they won't unless you've got big bucks behind that and it doesn't mean 30k a year.

You realize nasty people stay in those rooms too.

Yes, it's a dog issue. You don't need your dog on vacation. Dogs whining/barking while shut in the room; dogs jumping on people in the elevator, etc. And yes, it's also a hotel issue. If they want to cater to dogs, have them all on one floor and leave everyone else out of it. Totally unnecessary.

Yup. It's on the hotel too, sure. But this is absolutely a dog / dog owner issue.

Then stay home.

Why don’t you?

+1 If PP is that wrought over a dog having been in the hotel, they can stay home. Or carefully choose hotels that don't allow dogs -- which is easily most of them.

Yes, good point. There is probably a lot more nastiness in hotel room from the people who stay there, than from a pet.

As of 2022, 44.5% of US households owned a dog. Obviously hotels want to reach the widest audience possible. Banning dogs is leaving a lot of money on the table. It’s purely an economic decision. If you don’t want to stay at a dog friendly hotel, that’s fine, but many people, even dog-free people, aren’t so hard core that they’d avoid a hotel with dogs. So it’s a win-win for hotels.

I think a lot depends on how thorough the cleaning is (especially with the humans), but we recently stayed in a Homewood Suites on a rainy day and the smell of wet dog fur was unmistakable. Those rugs should have been shampooed and dried before the room was occupied by other guests.

And I would drop any good hotel that takes dogs.

Nuisance. Smell. Threat. Why on Earth would anyone bother with the dog people?

Bad people. Potential threat. Bad situation.

F" em. People that take dogs into hotels are not decent human beings

+100

And there is myneighbor who doesn’t believe allergies to dogs, horses etc are real so she is all over social media encouraging people to take their pets where they aren’t allowed and shares advice about how to hide them. As a person she is rude, selfish and entitled. My kid has horrible asthma and when I explained what happened to him in an enclosed space with dander she laughed at me and said it was too bad for me. She was also drunk as she often is. Alcoholics are generally terrible people.

Too bad for my kid. Not for me.

OP has to be trolling because I’ve stayed in plenty of dog friendly hotels and have never dog odors.
