Why do so many hotels allow dogs now? Yes this is a grumpy vent so please indulge me dog lovers.
I’ve never had a problem with an actual dog in a hotel. But I hate having a room that a dog has been in. There is just a smell that lingers. Often they’ve shedded on furniture floor and blankets. If you complain about the smell, the hotel just covers it up with chemical scents which is even worse. This happens at nice high end places. I love dogs—other peoples dogs. I just don’t want one in my living space. Are there so many dog-traveling families now that the industry has realized that’s where more money is? We sometimes remember to request a dog-free room but apparently there are so few of them that it’s never guaranteed. |
| That is a hotel issue not a dog issue, Hotels charge stupidly high additional cleaning fees for pet rooms. The fact that they don’t utilize the funds to clean the room properly is on the hotel. |
Yes, it's a dog issue. You don't need your dog on vacation. Dogs whining/barking while shut in the room; dogs jumping on people in the elevator, etc. And yes, it's also a hotel issue. If they want to cater to dogs, have them all on one floor and leave everyone else out of it. Totally unnecessary. |

I have a super-shedder and don't bring him to hotels. I know how difficult it is to stay on top the house cleaning in my house. Dumping this on hotel staff, then the next guest, seems unfair. |
| My dog does not shed. We bring ours. She does not do well boarding. |
And I would drop any good hotel that takes dogs. Nuisance. Smell. Threat. Why on Earth would anyone bother with the dog people? Bad people. Potential threat. Bad situation. F" em. People that take dogs into hotels are not decent human beings |
Oh, poor thing.

Then stay home. |
Go for it! They've obviously decided they don't need your business. |
| Not a luxury hotel, but do I hate my in laws house. Dog hair every where. So bad that I choke on dog hair and even though I own a dog, I have allergies at their house it's awful. |
You don’t need to go on vacation. Yes,our dog is family and it’s easier and cheaper to bring her. |
Why don’t you? |
What smell? Some of us bathe our dogs more than you bathe your kids. What threat? Not all dogs are violent. Some people are. |
| I agree OP. I stay only in pet free hotels or hotels that have pet specific rooms where they put the people with dogs in the same room so I can be in a room that doesn’t allow dogs. If there aren’t hotels that fit that bill, I get an Airbnb |
