Typically, they will defer students to RD when application numbers for early admission are high. True at pretty much every school. They want to have a look at the regular decision pool before overcommitting to ED applicants. |
But they typically seem to be sure enough to fill the class more than 60% during ED. |
Look, just telling you what happened last cycle. Unlikely they increase the size of the ED 1 acceptance pool dramatically. Total ED acceptance pool also includes ED2 applicants and the deadline for those applicants to file still in the future. |
Selection bias. |
BC typically does not send an email to counselors until the day of decision release. So, I'd remain skeptical of this anecdotal information until then. |
Stated date is usually later than the actual date. Look to past dates for clues. |
That's why we ask DCUM. |
Do you know what anecdotal means? |
DD was admitted ED1 last year. Results came out on Tuesday, Dec 6 at 6PM EDT. Typically results come out on the first Thursday in December. However, last year that would have been Dec 1st, which was too early, so they sort of split the difference. For the latest info, absolutely follow their IG and Twitter accounts. I think we got a 24 hour heads up? Also, be sure to read the comments because there were a few people who had early info from guidance counselors. Also, check out the BC College Confidential Forum ED 1 thread for Fall Admission ‘23 and start in Oct/Nov. You’ll get to see some of the timeline there as it goes through December. Finally, there was a BC thread on DCUM on Dec 6 that gave stats for those that were admitted. Good Luck! |
DCUM does not disappoint. Thanks for this! |
Thanks for the info. How are DD and you liking BC? |
🚨ED1 decisions will be released “early next week” 🚨 |
We got an email tonight saying result would be "early next week" But the email was titled Thursday Dec 2nd - which is not a date.
So...What??? |
+1. I heard “anecdotally” that BC ED apps are way down this year, and the school is panicking. |
Someone needs a new calendar. |
