^ A nice note is more than enough. Better yet a simple text. When the nephew graduates provide cash. The end.

Yeah, aren't the six figures that will be spent on his education gift enough?

yes!

When my kid got into their ED school, we immediately drove there that weekend and spent probably $600 in the bookstore on stuff. It's fun, give them a gift card.

Holy crap! When I went to college I bought a $10 t-shirt from some guy walking through the dorms selling them, and that was the only college swag I ever bought. I think my parents asked I wanted them to put a sticker on their rearview mirror and I told them not to de-value their car that way. $600 seems totally over the top and ridiculous.

In fairness there were some dorm type items and young sibling wanted stuff too. Sweatshirts cost like $70 nowadays so it’s easy to run up a bill.

Oh, brother. The aunt is asking. She's not paying. Save your sanctimony.

OP, flags and pennants are always good. No need to worry about sizing. Also, something socks could be fun. Or a college scarf if northern.

There are usually multiple varieties of all that stuff for each school. Your sister could get one style and you could buy another.
If the school is a big sports school, online stores like Fanatics will have tons of gear. Or you could get him those big overalls that students wear to the football games...I actually love those.

My kids both got school swag blankets from an Aunt and Uncle..slightly different. Honestly I would give a Target or Amazon Gift card with a note about buying something fun for your dorm!

Do teen boys care about decorating rooms? Mine won’t.

Amazon GC or a congratulations text.

Most college boys will put up at least 1 flag. I've had a son enter college in fall 2018, fall 2020, and fall 2022. They all put up flags and when parents posted photos of their kids' dorm rooms in facebook groups, almost all the boys had a flag.

You'd have to see them in context. When worn by enthusiastic fans at a football game, they are quite festive!
