My nephew has applied ED and will hear in a few weeks. I’d love to be ready to pull the trigger on a congratulations gift for him, $50 or under. I’d love ideas!
Hoodie and tshirt. Gift card to the book store or dining
yes! When my kid got into their ED school, we immediately drove there that weekend and spent probably $600 in the bookstore on stuff. Its fun, give them a gift card. |
Swag from the school. For sure.
Thanks from OP! My sister is ready to pull the trigger on a sweatshirt, tshirt, baseball cap and room flag for my nephew. I was hoping to get him something else. Thanks

It’s just college. Chill.
School Merch or a gift card for that!
Take him to dinner, if it happens, you give gifts at graduation.
You could give him a nice card and a gift card for a gas station/convenience store. (I live in PA ... Wawa or Sheetz.)
^ A nice note is more than enough. Better yet a simple text. When the nephew graduates provide cash. The end. |
Check with parents - if he gets in they may want to cover the initial sweatshirt that kids love to get. I'd get college logo sweatpants of some kind! They live in them and no teenage boy seems to have enough.
A flag from the school to decorate his room
I don't think I would give anything, but I especially wouldn't give something school-related. That is a very personal gift and likely the student already has what they wanted anyway. Acknowledging the accomplished it great but save the celebration and gift for high school graduation.
If you can spare money and want to be the thoughtful sibling and aunt, take him out to a nice dinner. If money is tight, cook and eat together.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch. How do you know he will get in?
