Be a Teacher for PGCPS

The entire system needs to be redesigned. I worked in PGCPS and, frankly, found that admin created 2x more work for me. I actively had to shield my students from their “initiatives”.

Admin should be a support role. They should be there to boost up the teachers who, in turn, can boost up the students. That’s not at all what I experienced in PGCPS, where I felt I was there to support admin and not the students at all.

Based on the new state requirements, PG has to massively increase their spending on K-12 education. I’m not totally clear on where they will spend the money but it is clear that they need to massively increase it or face state sanctions. So it may be a good time to join?

I’ll hazard a guess. It’ll go to tons of admin positions, both in schools and at Sasscer. It certainly won’t go to teachers or students.

I teach in a PGCPS high school and love it. Admin is mostly fine.

While I live in Howard, I enjoy teaching hs in PG. Although students academic caliber is not the same as surrounding counties I admit, they are a lot of great kids. Whenever I mention I teach in PG, it's sad that adults look down upon them overall.
