I think the late afternoon rush hour will be the worst part…particularly if there are lingering counter protests that spill out elsewhere.

Why does the US Park Police or DC or whomever approves of the protest permit allow these massive protests during peak rush hour?
They can't restrict protesting to weekends or holidays?Races like marathons/Cherry Blossom 10 miler, parades, festivals, etc are limited to weekend disruptions so why not massive protests? |
The purpose of a protest/rally is not to be convenient. |

If he is avoiding the road closures, he should be fine. Organizers are expecting 40-60k, that shouldn’t affect things beyond the mall.

They would've gotten higher turnout on a Sunday. My family would attend a Sunday rally, but I'm not pulling my kids out of school, plus we have busy jobs.
I'm really curious why didn't do a Sunday permit. Does NPS not permit Sunday protests? -Mixed faith family |
It's a static rally, not a march. |
Agreed. Whomever decided this was just an obnoxious ahole. I’m a teacher, and 1/3 of our staff was late. I leave plenty of time, but 3x as long is not fair to expect. |
Making people late for their jobs and livelihoods isn’t a way to gather empathy for your cause. It’s do the opposite. |
There are (often) things NPS permitted events on Sundays. I would guess they mall is booked on weekends well in advance though. I live downtown and my daycare has closed for it though so I too wish they’d chosen Sunday. |
