Eh. It was probably OP sock-puppeting. |
OP here. I would never! I'm very mild mannered and maybe that's why when these things strike I feel them like a hot flash and sometimes they linger. I'm over it now. |
Sure Jan. You’re still here. |
|
Why is it disrespectful that the mom didn't know, but not disrespectful that the dad didn't know?

You sound crazy OP. Is this rec soccer where the teams tend to change every season? I couldn’t tell you more than 3 kids’ names on my younger son’s team. The other ones aren’t in his grade/school and I don’t pay much attention at practices or games because it’s not an activity for me, it’s for the kids. I only know the names of my older child’s travel teammates because they’ve been playing together for multiple seasons and we use an app that shows the roster.
Why should every parent remember all the names of the kids on a random sports team? It’s not their job if they aren’t the coach. Who cares if the mom laughed? She probably saw some irony/humor in realizing she didn’t know the names despite being at practices and games all season. Probably laughing at her own “mom brain” and increasing inability to keep track of things as she and her kids get older. Why on earth would you take that personally? |
| Whole lotta crazy on this thread, myself included. |
| I doubt this is your first and only reaction to this “rude” mom. More likely you have been annoyed by this person for 8 weeks and this incident when viewed through that prism seemed rude, but as a single isolated incident as people are reading it here for the first time, it seems like a huge overreaction. |
LOL, OP next time volunteer fill in as coach, LMOA |
| Hard to imagine someone felt the need to post this issue. Of course it isn’t disrespectful. |
| Some parents level of involvement doesn't go much further than writing the check to the club. This goes for all levels of soccer, believe me. Don't take it personally. |
OP, I am the person to whom you responded, not the juvenile “sure, Jan” response. Glad you’re over it. |
+1 my kids have been in the same team for years and there’s still a few I don’t know. |
| wow if this bothers you in ES age you'll need a thicker skin to continue in youth sports |
