Schools out, would you be able to attend a December 28, 2023 birthday party?

We’ll be here, send me an invite.

After holding my Christmas birthday kid’s birthday party a week early one year (people were busy) and holding it the next year on the one weekend in January between New Year’s and MLK Day (when apparently all kids born from Dec. 15-Jan. 15 hold their parties), I give up. This year, we’re taking a trip.

Last year, we got invited to a February party for a girl whose birthday is around Xmas. She sent out the invitation first week of January for a party in early February.

We could, and would be glad for something to do. We don’t travel over the winter holidays as DH always has to work. And we are tired of doing Christmas/holiday stuff by then. A bday party would be refreshing

My son seems to have a lot of friends with Dec birthday. We always get invited to a lot of parties the first two weekends of December.

Agree with the bad date…it’s also my birthday. Luckily I had family that rarely traveled for Christmas so we always had big family parties and usually a small friends party that week. Occasionally we waited until January when life was less crazy.

As an adult I don’t celebrate my birthday anymore. I beg my mom and husband to let me enjoy a day of nothing!

Parent of a kid whose birthday is between Christmas and New Years. Very few even come to parties no matter what they RSVP.

I would not. We will be traveling over break.

Yes, we would.

You can never find a time that works for everyone. Just do what works for you.

My kid is December 18th so I either do the beginning of December or October if we want to do something outside

That's a Thursday. Why would you do that, OP? Then you're only looking at people who are in town AND off work with no midweek plans. That's a pretty small slice.

We don't have firm plans yet, but between traveling the week before, all the Christmas festivities with extended family, and NYE party with friends, we'd be tapped out and I'm likely to response no to a birthday party.

My kid could come. We are around that whole week. Why not do during the day though?

No. Too many families travel over the holidays.

Yes, we usually travel the first week of winter break so we’d be back by the 28th.
